Homesick

I am sure this has something to do with my sister leaving on Sunday and my parents leaving this Friday....but I am really really REALLY homesick. This experience has been incredible and I have absolutely no regrets, but I am ready to get on with the next chapter of my life and get back home. I have about 8 months left and I know I am going to miss it when I am back in Memphis, but that is not what I am feeling or worried about right now.

Remind me again why I did this???

So, please remember me in your prayers, I feel like I am going to need them this week.

  1. That is the hard part of living overseas. My dad was army and i lived in Germany for 5 years, then married my husband who wasin the army and spent 3 1/2 years in Italy. we had the post for a "taste" of America but it was no the same. I sometimes just wanted to go to a store at 11 at night and couldn't because nothing stays open but restaurants.Or go through a drive through! Being overseas is a great experience but there are times you miss the comforts of home!

  3. Hey Tippa,
I think it probably has a lot to do with saying goodbye to family. It always hits me most then too.

This isn't the most positive thing in the world, but when I get homesick I try to be realistic and remember all the things I don't miss about home rather than just the things I do miss. It helps to remind me that the US isn't as perfect as I always seem to remebember it when I am missing it.

In the meantime though, watch some Slingbox and eat some Pizza Hut!

    Hey Tippa,
I totally understand how you feel. It's always so wonderful being home or having family visit, but it's such a crash when it's back to reality. I'll be thinking of you right now. I know it's a difficult time.

Just think though, you have had a fabulous run while overseas-just reading your blog and seeing your photos has shown me that. You've seen new places and met new people. You've experienced a life that you'd never see back in the states. No matther how homesick you might be, you'll cherish these memories you've made over the last year forver.

Keep smiling. Enjoy more while you can and while you look forward to returning home.

    Love
    karie

The perfect host....What a trip!!..Your dad, sister and I enjoyed this trip of a life time. You were the perfect host, never not wanting to do and take us where we wanted to go.

Yes, we want you back home. We have missed you since the day you left,April 10,2007. We understood why you needed to go,to exprience something you could not do here..But yes, it doesnt make it easier for your family and friends. But it wasnt easy for you also. Remember the stories, and pictures you can tell and show to your future family...something you did on your own.
Just remember also, your family is just 8 1/2 hrs away, and a phone call away. We will be here when you do come home.

We miss and love you and Maxie more each day.....

    Dad, Mom, and Angie
